Boston University’s School of Public Health has selected Carol Karutu, IntraHealth International project director for Southern Sudan, to receive one of its three 2010 Distinguished Alumni Awards. The awards honor alumni recognized by the School of Public Health for their outstanding achievements and for continuing to make contributions to the field of public health.
IntraHealth is pleased to welcome Dr. Babacar Gueye as the chief of party for the Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health/Family Planning/Malaria Project in Senegal and Mr. Christian Stengel as chief of party for the HIV/AIDS Clinical Services Program in Rwanda.
Every year, Tanzania celebrates the passing of the Uhuru Torch—a national symbol of freedom and light. Originally lit in 1961 on the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, the torch represented the idea of shining hope for independence across the borders, reaching other African nations still under colonial rule.
Stakeholders from the Uganda Ministry of Health (MOH), universities, faith-based organizations, and other partners participated in meetings in July led by CapacityPlus staff member Wanda Jaskiewicz. They discussed and planned for field testing of a rapid rural retention assessment tool and a retention strategy costing tool.
