IntraHealth will work with the Karnataka Health Promotion Trust, the University of Manitoba, and others to improve maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) in the southern Indian state of Karnataka. This five-year project will support the Government of Karnataka to:

• Increase access to and quality of critical MNCH services for people living in eight rural districts

• Adopt best MNCH practices at the state and national levels. 

IntraHealth will second a Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH) advisor to the project to provide clinical expertise and guidance in MNH intervention design and implementation, and in improving health care service quality.  IntraHealth, as part of the Karnataka Health Promotion Trust’s consortium, along with the Karuna Trust and St. John’s Medical College, will be working through India’s National Rural Health Mission.   

IntraHealth has over fifteen years of experience working with India’s government and other key stakeholders to strengthen the capacity of health care providers at all levels of the health care system. Current efforts include the USAID-funded Vistaar Project and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation-funded Planning for Improving Maternal and Neonatal Health in Northern India Project.
