IntraHealth International is deeply saddened by the recent death of a longtime friend and colleague to the organization, Bruce Lowery.
Lowery served as IntraHealth’s chief financial officer from 2004–2005 during a pivotal time for the organization. IntraHealth, which was established more than 30 years ago as a program of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, became an independent organization in 2003. Under Lowery’s leadership, IntraHealth established robust systems to manage multiple funding sources, laying the groundwork for the rapid growth that has taken place over the last eight years. Lowery continued to stay involved in the work of the organization as a member of its voluntary Global Health Advisory Committee, helping shape IntraHealth’s growing philanthropic arm.
“We mourn our friend,” said IntraHealth President and CEO Pape Gaye. “Bruce devoted himself to bringing financial rigor and savvy to international non-profits for many years. We will miss him, and we extend our deepest sympathies to his loved ones.”
