Description: In India, too many women and infants die from causes that are either preventable or readily treatable. The Suk.shema project developed a mentoring intervention designed specifically to improve the quality of facility-based maternal and newborn care in primary care centers in Northern Karnataka. This brief describes this innovative approach, highlights achievemets and outlines challenges and lessons learned.
