Two new awards from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will help IntraHealth International improve health workforce information and its use in countries around the world.

At an event in Bamako last month, the IntraHealth International-led CapacityPlus project and the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene shared key results of their six-year collaboration to strengthen Mali’s health workforce. 

On July 23, mSakhi—an interactive smartphone app that provides on-the-job support to frontline health workers—won an mBillionth Award from the Digital Empowerment Foundation for outstanding mobile content.

This summer marks the sixth year of IntraHealth International’s partnership with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s (UNC) Gillings School of Global Public Health.

When I volunteered in a maternity ward in the Philippines in September 2013, I had about 18 months of experience under my belt as a midwife and a couple more years as a nurse. I had also volunteered in Papua New Guinea and was eager to return to a low-resource setting to sharpen my skills and develop my clinical thinking.
