In this GlobalPost report, Gregory Branch visited Rwanda's Mukono Health Center, which has integrated it's health services "for everything including HIV/AIDS, malaria, maternal and child health care, family planning and reproductive health."
“There’s a lot of suffering and it’s not visible, all for want of drugs we take for granted in the developed world,” said Christian Stengel, director of the IntraHealth-led HIV/AIDS Clinical Services Program. Rwanda's adoption of a palliative care policy, supported by this USAID-funded program, was recently profiled in the Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ) article, "Rwanda Moving to Provide 'Good Deaths' for Terminally Ill.”
Marie Louise Uwimana, the Gasabo District's Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs, told The New Times that a seminar on fighting malnutrition will jointly be organised by the district, Kibagabaga Hospital and IntraHealth International.
"Fighting malnutrition in the entire district is among our priorities for this year, which is why we want to train health counsellors on how best they can teach residents to avoid diseases like Kwashiorkor," Uwimana said.
Last week, the HRH Global Resource Center launched its new eLearning program through an online event hosted from Chapel Hill, NC, and highlighted the program’s first course, iHRIS Administrator: Level 1. The eLearning program is part of IntraHealth International’s strategy to promote innovative approaches to making knowledge about human resources for health more widely available through its global project, CapacityPlus and other projects.
