In 2014, Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone were hit hard by the largest Ebola outbreak in history. As of September 11, 2015 more than 11,200 lives have been lost to this terrible epidemic with more than 28,000 suspected or confirmed cases in West Africa. The Ebola epidemic exposed severe weaknesses in existing health information systems in West Africa.
