mHero is one way to harness the power of mobile technology to reach frontline health workers with critical information in real time. mHero is a communications platform that allows health officiaals to send information, questions, surveys, and training materials to frontline health workers via their mobile phones using currently available information systems. The ministry of health in Liberia has implemented the platform. Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Mali have begun implementation as well.
This new, free online course will inform health leaders, their staff, and other stakeholders about mHero. Participants will be able to engage through self-paced activities as well as join live session “office hours” with mHero experts for the first three weeks. The fourth week will feature a virtual workshop where students will use all the components to develop, deploy, and use data in a use case. Participants should plan to take up to two hours each week to participate.
This course is designed for ministries of health and other governmental agencies, implementing partners, faith-based organizations, and donors among others. The course includes three tracks tailored to specific groups of participants(decision makers), system administrators (developers and ICT support staff), and mHero implementers (mHero team members involved in the day-to-day activities of implementing mHero).
