Roy Jacobstein, senior medical advisor for IntraHealth International, will speak at the technical consultation, Putting the Family Back into Family Planning: Exploring and Expanding Men's Use of Voluntary Vasectomy, on February 11, 2015.
The purpose of the meeting is to share information on vasectomy programming, explore how gender norms and expectations among men and women affect demand for and uptake of vasectomy, identify approaches and opportunities for more holistic vasectomy programming, and generate excitement and ideas for next steps in reinvigorating vasectomy.
Jacobson will present, "Vasectomy Overview or 'If Vasectomy Is Such a Good Method—and It Is—Why Has It Fared So Poorly in Our Family Planning Programs over the Past 30 Years?'" He will addresses technical and programmatic aspects ofvasectomy, with a focus on the provider and the health system.
IntraHealth's Wanda Jaskiewicz, senior team leader, global leadership and workforce effectiveness, for CapacityPlus and Stembile Mugore, senior advisor for health sector performance and sustainability, will also participate.
