A rooftop celebration on February 19, 2013, marked the official opening of IntraHealth International’s new office in the 9-West Building in Nairobi, Kenya. The new space brings Nairobi-based staff together in one location and marks an investment in expanding the leadership and partnering capabilities of our Kenya team.

IntraHealth’s Kenya office will not only house both the USAID-funded Capacity Kenya and FUNZOKenya projects, but will also serve as a videoconferencing hub, thanks to a $30,000 grant from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. The new cloud-based bridge system will create a communications access point for Kenya and neighboring East African countries, allowing IntraHealth’s 90 Kenya-based staff members to talk face-to-face with donors, partners, and colleagues around the world.

In line with IntraHealth’s LEAD strategy, the new videoconferencing hub will host 200 or more meetings per year, helping to strengthen IntraHealth’s global communications infrastructure and allowing for easier, more effective collaborations, meetings, and training sessions. IntraHealth will make the facility available to other Hewlett Foundation grantees in the Nairobi area, as well.

The new centralized location and facilities will help IntraHealth’s projects to work more efficiently with Kenyan officials and other stakeholders to create a stronger national health workforce to care for all of Kenya’s 43 million people.
