New Policy and Technical Advisory Council to Expand IntraHealth's Global Impact
IntraHealth International announces the creation of its new Policy and Technical Advisory Council. This group of world-renowned authorities will contribute expertise on the most current research, best practices, and emerging ideas from their respective fields to the North Carolina-based global health organization’s work strengthening health systems and improving workforce performance in vulnerable countries and communities.
“Health workers are at the center of the response to every health issue, from childbirth to aging,” says Pape Gaye, president and CEO of IntraHealth. “But there is no one-size-fits-all solution to supporting health workers, especially those working at the front lines in marginalized or remote communities. We are honored to have council members with such a broad spectrum of technical expertise bringing their perspectives to these efforts.”
IntraHealth believes that a high-performing global health workforce and strong health systems are essential to achieving universal health coverage and, more broadly, the Sustainable Development Goals. As it works toward these goals, IntraHealth partners with key actors from the development field and beyond to design highly effective programs in the ever-changing economic, health, and social contexts of each country it works in, and to maximize its impact on health systems and health outcomes.
Some current council members include:
Leith Greenslade, leader of JustActions, a campaign to mobilize action around ten initiatives designed to accelerate progress to a more just world.
Dr. Sigrun Møgedal, a medical doctor by training and a former Norwegian Ambassador for Aids and Global Health Initiatives.
Dr. Charles L. M. Olweny, a globally renowned Ugandan oncologist, administrator, researcher and professor.
Göran Tomson, a senior professor of international health systems research at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden.
