IntraHealth International Urges Repeal of North Carolina House Bill 2
As an organization committed to improving health equity, IntraHealth International denounces the North Carolina General Assembly’s recent passage of House Bill 2, legislation that would ban local governments in the state from passing local anti-discrimination ordinances. This bill represents an unprecedented act of discrimination that runs counter to our state’s values of diversity, equality, and non-discrimination.
Opposing discrimination is central to IntraHealth’s mission of improving health systems throughout the world. Discrimination has harmful social and economic costs as the response of North Carolina’s business community has already demonstrated.
IntraHealth applauds the individuals and organizations who filed suit against House Bill 2 this week, including the American Civil Liberties Union of North Carolina (ACLU) and Equality North Carolina. We look forward to seeing this legislation overturned in due course.
