Dr. Wasunna Owino is chief of party of the Human Resources for Health Kenya Program. He is a global health leader with 20 years of experience managing health systems strengthening projects funded by USAID and the World Bank.

Prior to joining IntraHealth, Owino was chief of party for USAID’s Health Systems Strengthening Project in South Sudan. His experience in Kenya spans 15 years and multiple USAID-funded projects on which he held progressively senior roles. Throughout his public health career, he has represented his organizations to donors, government institutions, and other health partners.

Owino has extensive experience in strategic coordination and collaboration with USAID, liaising with partners, and increasing his organizations’ visibility. He is known for establishing strong relationships with donors, ministries, and other key partners, while successfully leading large teams of health systems and human resources for health technical specialists.

Owino is a Kenyan citizen with a doctorate in health economics and is fluent in English and Kiswahili.
