IntraHealth International was a core partner on the DREAMS/Twagamenwa (meaning “We are safe") activity, led by Project Hope Namibia and funded by the US Agency for International Development. Together we worked to avert new HIV infections among adolescent girls and young women through a combination of HIV prevention and impact-mitigation interventions in Namibia, focusing on three districts in the Oshikoto Region (Omuthiya, Onandjokwe, and Tsumeb).
IntraHealth and our partners led HIV prevention and sexual health services for the activity, including linkages to other prevention, care, and treatment services, as well as gender-based violence prevention and care services at public health facilities. IntraHealth supported monitoring and evaluation at the facility level and health information systems, including data interoperability.
In 2021, IntraHealth successfully transferred responsibilities to our local partner, IntraHealth Namibia, furthering USAID’s goal of building institutions that can continue to provide services after a project ends. This transition has led to greater sustainability and long-term effectiveness for adolescent girls and young women in Namibia.
