More Information: | More than 150 countries have a shortage of nurses and midwives, and 130 countries report a shortage of physicians. Lay health workers, such as community health workers, doulas, birth attendants, and others have the potential to transform health systems and address workforce gaps. To mitigate the detrimental impact of this labor shortage, we must integrate all health worker roles into health care systems and pay them a living wage. This Spotlight Session is part of the Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting and will be livestreamed.
