Stembile Mugore, SRN, SCM, MPH is a state registered nurse (UK), state certified midwife (UK), and public health professional with over 20 years of experience and a master’s degree in public health.

Drawing from both her clinical experience and public health expertise, Mugore has designed, led, and implemented dynamic and multisectoral healthcare projects, including numerous complex family planning / reproductive health, HIV/AIDS and health systems strengthening programs in 12 countries across sub-Saharan Africa.

Mugore is particularly adept in human resources for health, capacity building, policy development, and integrated service delivery strengthening; she is also well-versed in issues of stigma, gender, and youth. She is IntraHealth’s senior advisor for performance improvement for the global Evidence 2 Action Project (2011-present) and has previously served as regional project director/chief of party for the Southern Africa Human Capacity Development Coalition project (2006-2009). An expert in her field, she has developed, led, participated in, and disseminated innovative family planning trainings targeting health workers across cadres. She led the design and implementation of integrated family planning programs and pilots featuring task-shifted treatment of postabortion complications and contraceptive provision.

To promote the provision of quality family planning services in underserved areas, she collaborated with regulatory professional councils and training institutions to spearhead the development of policies and guidelines and promote revision of scopes of practice and preservice education. She has provided technical assistance to promote use of global evidence-based tools to strengthen and decentralize family planning training and interventions for strengthen service delivery. In her numerous positions, Mugore has demonstrated her skills in building sustainable networks and collaborating with the public, private and non-profit sectors at different organizational levels. Her experience includes successful collaboration with donors, development partners, and other implementing partners.
